SPORTS
. . .
ISOC Sports aims to help you to build stronger relationships and bond while keeping active and relieving academic stress.
Aside from the health and Islamic benefits to participating in sports, sports also plays an important role in unifying the community and building friendships. The Prophet participated in swimming, archery, running and horseback riding; he was said to have encouraged parents to involve their children in these sports. Similarly, Aisha (RA), the wife of the prophet, competed in races with her husband.
We are willing to take suggestions on other activities ISOC Sports should include. That said, please understand we will need a certain amount of demand. ISOC Sports is open to everyone and great fun so definitely get involved!
Note: Please be aware that the logistics of all these sporting events may change in short notice.
Brothers’ Sports
BROTHERS’ FOOTBALL
Cantell Primary School- Saturdays 15:30-17:30
ISOC Brothers' Sports hosts casual Football every week on Sundays at 1pm during term time!
Everyone is welcome and please do bring your friends!
This is held at Cantell School which is really close to the Highfield Campus, and closer to Glenn Eyre Halls.
We have a brothers' sports group chat to keep you up to date with all the weekly sports events, as well as other sporadic or one-off sports events/ socials.
Quick Survey
We have created a short survey to gauge interest for new sports, offered either as one-off events or regular events. Additionally, we want to gain insight into the preferences in terms of timing for Sunday football in order to get more people involved.
The survey only has 3 questions, so it won’t take too much of your time. Your responses greatly help us to improve your sports experience with us, inshaAllah. Please help us out by taking part. Jazakallah Khair.
Sisters’ Sports
Below, you will find a list of sports that our sisters have previously engaged in and found enjoyable, along with information about their typical scheduling. However, this year, we regret to inform you that we do not currently have a Sisters Sports Officer, and as a result, there is no set schedule for sports activities for the sisters.
SISTERS' BASKETBALL
Cantell Primary School - Sundays 13:00
Sisters' basketball is another great way to both hang out with friends and improve your fitness.
Come along every Sunday at Avenue Campus.
If you're interested in filling in the position of Sisters Sports Officer, and continuing the tradition of empowering sisters through sports, please reach out to any sister on the Committee so we may consider you for the role.
That said, once the year commences, insha'Allah, the sisters can request to form a sisters sports group. Should they decide to proceed, we can establish a dedicated group chat to facilitate seamless communication and coordination among the members.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding during this transitional period. We will keep you updated on any developments regarding the resumption of Sisters Sports via our WhatsApp group. Thank you for your continued support and patience.
