Sports

ISOC sports aims to allow us to build stronger relationships and bond while keeping active and enjoying sport. ISOC sport is open to everyone and great fun so definitely get involved!

The Prophet participated in swimming, archery, running and horseback riding, and was said to have encouraged parents to involve their children in these sports. Similarly Aisha the wife of the prophet (rathiallahu anha) narrated about competing in races with her husband.
As well as the health and Islamic benefits to participating in sports, sports also plays an important role in unifying the community and building friendships.

We are willing to take suggestions, however please understand we will need a certain amount of demand.

Note: Please be aware that due to the current situation, the logistic of these sporting events may change.

Brothers' Sport

Brothers' sport currently includes football, futsal and basketball, with an intention to start up Cricket this year insha'allah. We have a brothers' sports group chat that will keep you up to date with all the weekly sports events as well as other sporadic or one off sports events/ socials.

Quick Survey

We have created a short survey to gauge interest for new sports being offered either as one off events or regular events. We also would like to gain an insight into the preferences in terms of timing for Sunday football in order to get more involved, by choosing a time that suits everyone the best. It is incredibly short at 3 questions long, so shouldn't take long and would help us massively as well as your experience insha'allah. Please help us out by taking part. Jazakallah Khair!

Sisters' Sport

Message from Sisters Sports Officer -
"Assalamwa alaykum, my name is Fatima and I am this year’s Sisters Sports Officer. Participating in sporting activities and exercising with your sisters and friends is both a fun and uniting experience. Some of my fondest memories from last academic year have been whilst playing basketball or practicing MMA with my sisters. Whether you’re a first year looking for an opportunity to make friends in a fun environment or an older student whose friends all run on different timetables, taking a couple of hours out each week for some fun sporting activities can be a great way to build and maintain lasting friendships.

This year, we will be continuing our MMA sessions as well as setting up a regular badminton/basketball session. However we are not limited to these and are also open to any sporting suggestions you may have. Our weekly sessions may also be interspersed with larger scale tournaments against other ISOCs in the south such as the Netball tournament which we recently took part in
