Throughout the year we hold a variety of socials catering to all aspects of Muslim student life.
Chai Shais This is the name given to the casual gatherings we have in the prayer room. If you are unfamiliar with the word 'chai', it means tea. It usually involves a few brothers talking and getting to know one another whilst enjoying a nice cup of chai as well snack provided by the ISOC.
Games nights Games nights are held either in the prayer room or booked out rooms. We usually have a play station setup with fifa as well as other card an board games. As always, snacks are provided.
Scoops/Sprinkles Both of these places are ice cream parlours. They are only a 15 minute walk from Highfield campus. Depending on the amount of people who show up we can go to either.
Restaurants/Takeaways/Texas Grill and Uni-Kebab You will find often in university you will go out to eat, a lot. Some of the places we often go after Freshers, Charity Week and other campaigns events are Texas Grill and Uni-Kebab. You can find out more about halal food places here.
Online Socials
This year, COVID-19 has made it difficult to hold face-to-face events regularly which is why we have taken the initiative to organise more online socials.
Game Nights These will be video game socials and tournaments where you can join us on Discord to pay a range of games from Fifa to COD. It's a great way to get to know the ISOC community that you will be spending time with and to make new friends that you will keep through your time at university, inshaa Allah.
Quizzes Challenge yourself and compete with your friends to see who can get the most points on a wide range of topics from sport, culture, history, science and much more. You might even win a prize at the end!
Follow-along activities Ever wanted to try calligraphy? or maybe you have an interest in henna? Follow-along activities will give you the opportunity to try out new things with your friends in the form of short, casual online classes.
Buddy Meet-Ups As ISOC is introducing the new Buddy Scheme this year, freshers will be able to talk online with older students, students with similar interests, and get advice on how to settle into university life.
Other socials
We also hold more focused socials throughout the year. Some past socials have included Thorpe Park, paintball, trampoline parks, bowling and many more.
